Academic Registrar's Briefing (formerly known as the AAD Communications Briefing)

The Academic Registrar's Briefing gives those involved in student-facing and academic administration positions a chance to hear and ask questions about important internal and external developments, and offers an opportunity to meet others working in similar roles across the collegiate University. It is open to all, but will be particularly relevant to colleagues in academic administration roles across the collegiate university, including senior tutors, bursars, admissions co-ordinators, departmental/college administrators and divisional office staff.

The agenda for the Hilary term event is as follows:

 2-3pm: Presentations and updates

  • Update from the Academic Registrar
    Emma Potts will provide an overview of some of the key internal programmes and external policy developments that will impact Oxford’s academic administration and student services in the months ahead
  • Academic Administration Challenge
    David White (Student Systems) and Mary Fridlington (Focus programme) will provide an overview of the ideas submitted to last term’s Academic Administration Challenge, and indicate how the ideas will be taken forward
  • Operational updates
    • Prevent duty update – Sarah Cowburn, Council Secretariat and Gillian Hamnett, Student Welfare and Support Services
    • Education IT update - Elaine Aitken, Education IT programme

3-4pm: Networking time

  • An opportunity to meet with colleagues in similar roles over refreshments

Learn more about the University – the UAS Induction Programme

A half-day event for new University administrative staff, providing an introduction to the University’s structure, history and central services. With c250 attendees a year, the UAS Induction Programme is a great way for new staff to become acquainted with the University environment including meeting representatives from a variety of UAS sections and networking with colleagues. Staff joining a UAS section or a division, department or faculty in an administration role will receive an invitation to attend the UAS Induction.

This event is a full-day programme of talks, workshops, tours and information stands for staff across the collegiate University who work in administrative and support roles, as well as academics and researchers who would like to learn more about the University’s administrative functions.
