About the AAD
The Academic Administration Division (AAD) brings together those sections of University Administration & Services which support most aspects of academic administration, and it works closely with departments and colleges in helping to coordinate this work across Oxford.
The AAD includes the Planning and Resource Allocation Section and the Education Policy Support team, which support the work of two of Council’s main committees (Planning and Resource Allocation Committee and Education Committee), and also includes the four divisional offices (Humanities, Mathematical, Physical & Life Sciences, Medical Sciences and Social Sciences), the Continuing Education secretariat, and the Academic Services and University Collections secretariat.
A particular area of responsibility is directly to provide, or otherwise to coordinate, support for the student career (both undergraduate and postgraduate), and to promote the development across Oxford of coherent systems and services to underpin this. The AAD includes the Undergraduate Admissions and Outreach team, the Graduate Admissions and Funding Office, and Student Administration and Services. This latter coordinates student administration from registration through to examinations and graduation, and is responsible for centrally managed student services such as counselling, student welfare and disability support, the Careers Service, and University sport.
The AAD is headed by the Deputy Registrar, Michael Sibly. He reports to the Registrar and works closely with the five functional Pro-Vice-Chancellors, the four Heads of Division, and a wide range of academic and administrative staff throughout the collegiate University as well as taking an active role in representing the University at meetings with the City and County Council.
