(01865) 278240 Institute of Archaeology Website This building is predominantly used for graduate research (although there is an undergraduate degree in Archaeology and Anthropology,) and houses the School of Archaeology. The institute is based in an old Regency building in the centre of the city, fifteen minutes at most from the University Science Area, and has no specific adaptations for wheelchair users. It is a three storey building accessed only by a central staircase, which is quite steep with handrail on the right throughout. The entrance is +3 stairs with handrails on the right and left to the Reception area, with level access to Study Room, Computer Room, and Seminar Room. There is no car park near the Institute, but there is designated disabled parking on St John's Street. On the first floor there is the lecture room, Reading Room, and Common Room. They are all lit by natural light and have moveable furniture. The Reading Room is a non-lending library, allowing duplication of popular texts and periodicals in the Sackler Library. There is a smaller seminar room, and a slide room on the second floor (the second floor houses only staff offices,) but this is only accessible via the second floor and two staircases. In the attic there is space for 13 students and this is accessed by a very narrow staircase. |
