Oxford University Computing Laboratory Website

This is a relatively new building with six floors including an attic; all facilities meet specifications except where indicated and there are adapted loos located near the lift on every floor. There is one designated car parking space with ramped access, with hand rails on both sides to the main entrance, which all meet with the specification. The glass entrance door itself is very heavy and assistance may be required. For out of hour access there is a telephone, which is at the correct height, or a swipe card access, which does not meet specification.

With effect from 1 January 2007 the e-Science extension will be operational which has full access to both lecture theatres and teaching rooms; this includes a second lift and access from the walkway for wheelchairs. All meeting rooms will be fitted with hearing loops prior to the rooms becoming operational.

In the basement is a lecture theatre, which has fixed seating and a designated area for wheelchairs. There is also a Common Room and Seminar room, which can be used independently. The Library is staffed and open to only research staff and students and there is room for manoeuvring. The photocopiers can be used independently. The Attic is not served by the lift but is study space for DPhil students, which could easily be made available on other floors. The rest of the building is research space, with a kitchen on each floor, except the second, although no kitchen has been specifically adapted.
