(01865) 272000 Department of Earth Sciences Website The Department of Earth Sciences has one major building next to the University Museum and two annexes in the basement of 10 Parks Road and at 62 Banbury Road. The latter two buildings have poor access and are used for some graduate research. The main Earth Sciences building at Parks Road is an older building with an extension attached to the right. The main entrance is flat through three sets of double swing doors with kick plates to a reception area and common room/lobby. The snack and coffee machines in the common room are within specification. The library is on the ground floor with flat access. The door width and desk clearance are within specification. The library is staffed and the books are on OLIS. The first floor of the main building and most of the second, where computing and teaching laboratories are situated are accessible by lift, though assistance may be required with the lift doors. Both laboratories are within specification. Access to the extension is via an external ramp, or from the Common Room, via a steep ramp with no handles or 3+ stairs. On the ground floor is an accessible toilet that meets all specifications. The extension is served by a lift that is due to be modified for disabled access during the summer of 2003. |
