Littlegate House, St Ebbes Tel (01865) 286830 Department of the History of Art Website The Department of History of Art is based on the second floor of Littlegate House a relatively new building that has only been inhabited by the University since August 2001. Littlegate House is located in the City Centre and is about 10 minutes away from the Ashmolean Museum and Sackler Library, which are both invaluable resources to Art Historians. The Department is similarly about 10 minutes walk from the History Faculty and Bodleian Library. The main entrance from St Ebbes is stepped and leads to a ground floor lobby (there is no existing alternative access to the building), assistance would also be need with the heavy door and with the use of the buzzer, which do not meet specifications. From the lobby there are two flights of stairs, with handrails, that connect the Ground Floor to the First Floor and then up to the Second Floor. No lift is currently available however plans have been drawn up for the installation of such, due to go ahead in 2004. These plans also include improvements such as the introduction of disabled toilets. |
