Access to this facility is via a gravel path. Assistance may be required with this. There is a ramp to the main doors, with a bell at the top for assistance. The inside lobby door is accessible using a swipe card. The double doors are heavy and both may need to be opened to gain entry. Assistance will be required.

The accessible toilet is situated in the 'ladies', near the library on the ground floor. The height to the top of the toilet seat is 540mm, the lateral transfer space is approximately 680mm, and there are bars to aid transferring (high) to the left and back of the toilet.

The library is on three levels and is staffed. The counter height is 1050mm and desk clearance 620mm. Access to the other two levels is via stairs only (handrail on right only, stone surface). The ground floor is for reference only, but books may be fetched from the other two levels. The library is on OLIS and the cataloguing system is accessible. The TV and video are on the upper levels. Over the summer vacation the computer room will be relocated from the second floor to the ground floor to allow access to all students. The new Graduate Centre is not currently accessible to those students who require wheelchair access.

The Listening Room and micro-fiche are accessed from the library down 5 steps with no handrails. The Common Room and tutors' rooms are upstairs. The Bate Collection (historical instruments) is down steps 5 stairs.

Although there are facilities that can be accessed from the ground floor, there are important facilities not accessible to a wheelchair user. The double doors in and around the faculty are heavy (2nd leaf locked) and assistance would be required. Help is available wherever possible.

Building works nearing completion will see the installation of a passenger lift based in the library section of the building; this will give access to both floors of the library, the JCR and the Electronic Music Studio.
