There is no designated parking for students. There are two entrances to the grounds and to the building and are wheelchair accessible from New Inn Hall Street. A 50m gravel path leads to the wheelchair access at the rear of the building and is marked all the way 'Disabled Access'. This path leads to a ramped entrance with a lip and a handrail only beginning at the top where the ramp flattens out. The ramp is slightly steeper than specification. The door is not usually open and students are required to ring the bell at the Department's main entrance door (which they will pass at the rear of the building) to inform the caretaker who will then open the wheelchair accessible entrance. The wheelchair accessible entrance leads into the Common Room on the ground floor. The main entrance to the Department is from George Street by +2, +5 stairs, then a 60m gravel path leading to the rear of the building and then +4 stairs leading to a heavy wooden door which is swipe card operated; there is a doorbell on the wall to the left of the entrance.

The wheelchair accessible entrance is the only flat access into the building. From this entrance, the ground floor toilets, Common Room, Lecture Theatre, Seminar Rooms, and Computer Room can be accessed.

There is a unisex disabled toilet on the ground floor adjacent to the ladies toilet. The Common Room has flat access, however the sociable seating area is +2 stairs; the door meets specifications. The Lecture Theatre has flat access to the front where there is room for a wheelchair; the door meets specification. The back of the Lecture Theatre is +13 stairs and natural light is limited. The two Seminar Rooms further down the corridor have flat access and the doors meet specification. The average table clearance does not meet specification. The Computer Room has flat access and the door meets specification. The Computer Room is accessible via a key pad on the wall to the right of the door at a height of 1400mm; there is limited light. The Department does not operate and induction loop system.

The Department's administrative offices are through two doors operated by a swipe card system at a height of 1250-1300mm and +2, +2 stairs when coming from the wheelchair accessible entrance. When coming from the main entrance they are +2 stairs and one door operated by a swipe card system at a height of 1250-1300mm.
