Entrances

There is level access to the main entrance doors. These powered doors are opened using a Bodleian Readers Card; the proximity card reader is to the right of the doors and at an accessible height for wheelchair users.

Once through the doors, you’ll find yourself in a large lobby area containing the porter’s lodge, locker rooms, standard and accessible toilets, and the entrance to the library.

The doors into the library are also powered; the proximity card reader is to the right of the doors on the safety barrier. Inside the library there are powered access controlled gates; wheelchair users will need to use the wider gate to the right. The proximity card reader is on a pillar to the right hand side as you enter the library.

There is one lift located at the rear of the library. The doors to the lift lobby are powered on the ground, first and second floors. The doors to the lift lobby are not powered on the third floor. 

The lift entrance has a button panel on the left hand side, with Braille markings and large buttons.

There are two accessible toilets located within the Sackler Library:

There is one located in the lobby on the ground floor (prior to entering the main library).

There is an additional one on the second floor.

Standard toilets

There are three standard toilet blocks located within the Sackler Library:

There are Men's and Women's toilets located in the lobby on the ground floor (prior to entering the main library) directly ahead of the door that you enter through.  There are also Men's and Women's toilets off the ground floor reading room (adjacent to the photocopier room).

Next to the second floor meeting room are Men's and Women's toilets, as well as a toilet for all genders.  There are additional Men's and Women's toilets down a small corridor by one of the staircases.
