Court Place Gardens

Court Place Gardens is well placed on the Oxford ring road for students who are wishing to reach the hospitals by car.  There is parking on site.  The site is conveniently placed about 3 miles from the centre of Oxford and lies between Iffley and Rose Hill. It is approached on foot or bicycle from Iffley village and by car from Rivermead Road, Rose Hill. There is a regular bus service to the city centre and there is a cycle route via Iffley village. There are a few local shops in Iffley and Rose Hill.

The 36 semi-detached houses at this site were built in the grounds of Court Place House (referred to as the Mansion) which houses single students. There are 34 two-bedroom, and 2 three-bedroom houses which are only for families with children. Each property consists of a small hall, a kitchen and living room on the ground floor with a double and one (or two) single bedrooms and a bathroom (with walk-in shower) on the first floor.

There is also a nature reserve on the site which is managed by the local Council.

Please note that any new tenancies will only be for 1 year until 31 July 2014.  Renewals will not be possible.

Bicycles

There is a lockable cycle shed near the Mansion.

Car parking

There is an open hard standing car park adjacent to the houses.

Cleaning

Tenants are expected to keep their flats clean and to provide their own cleaning materials. There are two vacuum cleaners in the Mansion which may be borrowed.

Common room/study room

There is a study room and a common room in the Mansion which can be booked for parties and other gatherings.

Computer Connection

There is NO UNIVERSITY NETWORK connection at Court Place Gardens.

Electricity

Tenants pay for the electricity used by quarterly account.

Furnishing/Equipment

The houses are equipped with the basic furniture required, including an electric cooker with four rings, grill and oven and a fridge with a freezer compartment. Tenants must provide their own bed linen (including pillows), crockery, cutlery, cooking and household items. There is a Newcomers' Club which helps newly-arrived wives, husbands and partners of members of the University.

Heating

The houses have gas central heating and hot water provided by a combination boiler controlled by the tenant. Tenants pay for the gas used by quarterly account.

Laundry

There is a laundry, coin operated, on site. There are three washing machines and three dryers. There are also some clothes lines outside the houses.

Telephone

The houses have a BT telephone line. New tenants should contact BT to have the line reconnected and BT may charge for this.
