The most common choice, for undergraduates in particular, is a house shared with their friends. We hold a database of over 100 private landlords who rent houses to groups of friends. This list is updated continuously throughout the year and is always accessible online via Studentpad. Please note that these are for already-formed groups, and not for individuals. Rental Levels
The average rent for a room in a shared house is £300-£400 per calendar month + a share of the bills and council tax.
Full-time students can apply for council tax exemptions.
Note that the more central the accommodation is the more expensive it is and rents do vary from the average figures set out above depending on the standard of the accommodation.
