Student Systems training courses

All training courses will take place at the IT Services Office, 23-38 Hythe Bridge Street, Oxford, OX1 2EP. Please go to the location page for information on how to book onto training and further details about where to find us. Please also familiarise yourself with the booking conditions.

OSS Navigation and Data Views

Course details 
Pre-requsities None
Duration ½ day
Audience Staff who need to access the data held on OSS.
Note: Anyone may attend this course, although it is not compulsory for staff who require read-only access.
Course Content
  • Overview of Oxford Student Systems
  • Log into OSS
  • Navigate around OSS
  • Carry out basic searches
  • Change Responsibility
  • Log into the Data View interface
  • Search for data
  • Download the data to a .csv file and save as an Excel spreadsheet

College Graduate Admissions

Course details 
Pre-requisites OSS Navigation and Data Views
 Duration 1 day
 Audience College Administrators who are responsible for updating graduate applications.
Course content
  • Overview of the graduate admissions process
  • Manage applications within the application deadline cycle
  • Print out applications and supporting materials using the Data Views
  • Enter decisions and conditions into OSS
  • Enter funding information
  • Manage Visa applications
  • Manage documentation sent in to fulfil conditions
  • Student Registration (additonal section at the end of the course)

*Note: In addition to the above, the Student Registration Interface training will also be covered at the end of the training course, this part of the course is optional and will take 30 minutes, for those who would like to stay for this the finish time will be 15.30.

Student Registration: Colleges and Departments

Course Details 
Pre-requisites None - although familirisation with Dataviews would be an advantage.
Duration ½ day
Audience College and Departmental Administrators who are involved in the registration process.
Course content
  • Overview of the registration process
  • Log into the Registration Interface
  • Retrieve a student record
  • Register the student on course
  • Identify issues which may prevent a student from registering and how to resolve them
  • Matriculation and SLC Interface
