Updating your University Card
University Cards have a maximum validity of four years. The expiry date will be set to the length of your course of study, contract of employment or approved academic visit if this is less than four years. Your University Card becomes invalid when you cease to hold the status indicated on it or if you are suspended from access to the premises and facilities of the University. If your status changes, the card may be cancelled before the printed expiry date.
The University Card remains the property of Oxford University and must be surrendered on request from an authorised person. Upon leaving you will be required to surrender it to your College Office, College/Departmental Administrator or other authorised person. Failure to comply is a University disciplinary offence.
Renewing your University Card
If you are a student and need to renew your University Card, you must contact your College. If you are not a student then you should contact your Department administrator who will authorise the changes and notify the University Card Office. Your new card will be issued to your administrator for you to collect. At this point your old card must be surrendered. Any changes or errors on your University Card must be managed by your College or Departmental administrator.
Will I need a new photograph for each new University Card issued?
Only if the photograph is out of date by more than four years or your appearance has changed considerably. If you require a new photograph on your University Card, your College or Department administrator should forward your new passport size photograph to the Card Office and request your new card. It will be sent back to your College or Department administrator for collection.
Changing your name on your University Card
The University Card Office requires legal proof of your name change and a sample of your new signature. This should be carried out through your College or Department administrator.
