Lost, stolen or damaged Cards

If your card is lost, stolen or damaged please inform your College or Department administrator to request a replacement immediately. If it has been lost or stolen, reporting this loss quickly will prevent unauthorised use of your University Card for which you may be held responsible.

If you need urgent access to libraries, the Bodleian Library Admissions Office in the Clarendon Building on Broad Street will issue you a day pass until your new University Card is ready for collection.

Replacing your lost University Card

Your College or Department administrator should contact the University Card Office. We will replace your University Card on receipt of the £10 replacement fee payable at the University's online store. Your replacement University Card will be sent to your College administrator, if you are a student, or Departmental administrator, if you are a member of staff, for you to collect.

If you are a member of Congregation, please report your lost card to the University Card Office and make your £10 replacement fee payment at the online store. Your replacement card will be sent to your Department or College administrator for you to collect.

Once a card has been reported as lost, we will change your barcode/OLIS number for your new card. You will need to inform your College or Department administrators of your change in card if your University Card is used for lending purposes at libraries or access control around the University.

Replacing stolen or damaged University Cards

Your College or Department administrator should contact the University Card Office. Your replacement card will always be sent to your College administrator, if you are a student, or Departmental administrator, if you are a member of staff, for you to collect. There is no fee for replacing stolen or damaged cards.

If a lost or stolen card is recovered after it has been replaced it must be returned to your administrator who will destroy it. Never try to use it in preference to your replacement card. Your barcode/OLIS number will have been changed for your replacement card.
