Oxford Montessori Schools

Dear Parents & Carers,

Our schools and nurseries are family run. Our three children have attended from their second year through primary and on to the senior school to study towards IGCSE as teenagers. So we understand the needs of parents - leading busy, often hectic lives. And we know that children need much more than a childcare 'solution' - they have the right to be happy and get a well balanced educational experience that gives priority to the things we believe really matter - social, emotional and academic development in safe and beautiful surroundings.

Community: We view the schools as a community service. Yes, they have to be well run financially but profit is not the motive. In fact our fee structure is unique. The older the children grow, the less we charge. We hope this encourages confidence to plan long term and recognises parent's loyalty and support. Our association with Oxford University, Nursery Education Funding and a range of voucher schemes also makes it possible to further subsidies for those unable to pay full fees.

Established for over 20 years: We established Oxford Montessori Schools in 1990, providing high quality education for families in Oxfordshire. The environments are deliberately intimate and small scale but offer some facilities you might associate with larger private schools such as coppice woods, an outdoor sports centre and premises in the city's conservation areas. OMS operates two nursery schools in Oxford (Wolvercote & Iffley Village) and the nursery, primary and senior school Forest Farm (a farm school a few minutes from the city centre where there are acres of land to explore).

The Education: We provide a hybrid Montessori / Foundation Stage / National Cirriculum education. We teach to children's interests and aim to promote a love of learning. This ethos is underpinned by the Montessori Philosophy - a structured approach to helping each child reach their potential. Ofsted rated OMS as Outstanding and Good in 2010/2011 and our senior school students have achieved really strong results at our Cambridge International Examinations Centre in the last two year sittings.

Practically OMS offers flexibility and choice. Nursery children may attend 3, 4 or 5 normal schools days and extend these with Early Bird sessions and our very own After School Club. Through the usual school holidays we also run Create, our arts, crafts, bush-craft and cookery club up at Forest Farm School in Elsfield. At primary and senior levels we offer many study combinations to cater for those parents wishing to part home educate or who need full time places for their children. You have a choice of different settings, city based and rurual or a combination of the two! Iffley Village Montessori Nursery is bi-lingual and currently has some 23 different nationalisites. Wolvercote Montessori is ideally located in North Oxford and achieved an 'Outstanding Ofsted' inspection in March 2011.

Day-Care: Over the years we have developed our own brand of Daycare (8am to 6pm) for those parents who need long hours. It has been a special focus to get this right, to ensure that children have a great variety of educational experiences and are taught and cared for by qualified and enthusiastic teachers.

Value: As an Oxford University 'preferred' provider, parents benefit from reduced fees and salary sacrifice schemes.

If you would like to see the environments (the only real way to get a feel for a nursery or school) please let us know as soon as possible. Waiting lists mean it is wise to plan ahead so we can work towards offering you the days and options you require.

We look forward to meeting you and introducing you to our staff teams. The majority of whom have been with us for many many years.

Yours Sincerely,

Judith Walker & Daniel Ardizzone
