Election News: Trinity Term 2016


Long Vacation 2016

28 July 2016

The nomination period for these elections closed at 4:00 pm, Thursday, 30 June 2016. Of the 5 vacancies on the Prevent Steering Group advertised for election on 28 July 2016, four were uncontested and one lapsed. In accordance with the regulations, the lapsed vacancy must now remain vacant until an appointment is made jointly by the Proctors and Vice-Chancellor. Any eligible member of Congregation who wishes to be considered for appointment to one of these vacancies is asked to contact the Elections Officer by Thursday 21 July.


Forthcoming elections

Michaelmas Term 2016

24 November 2016

Elections will be held to fill the following vacancies:

    Audit and Scrutiny Committee (2 vacancies)

    Medical Sciences Divisional Board (3 vacancies)

    Board of the Faculty of Law (1 vacancy)

The deadline for submitting nominations is 4 p.m. on Thursday, 27 October 2016. Please note, this is an interim list. The final list of vacancies for election in week 7 of Michaelmas Term 2016 will be published in the 6 October issue of the Gazette.

Hilary Term 2016

3 March 2016

The nomination period for these elections closed at 4:00 pm, Thursday, 4 February. Of the 5 vacancies advertised for election on 3 March, two were contested, and three were uncontested.

The results of the contested elections to the Oriental Studies Faculty Board are available on-line and was published in the 10 March issue of the Gazette.


10 March 2016

The following election was contested:

Public Orator

One member of Convocation, elected by Congregation

On Thursday, 10 March 2016, the following was duly elected as the Public Orator to hold office from MT 2016:

Dr Jonathan B Katz, MA DPhil Oxf, Fellow of All Souls

[The votes recorded were: for Professor de Melo, 170; for Fra' John Eidinow, 147; for Dr Katz, 248; and for Mr Pitcher, 115]


Trinity Term 2016

9 June 2016

The nomination period for these elections closed at 4:00 pm, Thursday, 12 May. Of the 57 vacancies advertised for election on 9 June, two were be contested, 38 were uncontested, and 17 lapsed.

The results of the contested elections to Council (Non-divisional) and to the Visitors of the Ashmolean Museum are available on-line and will be published in the 16 June issue of the Gazette.
