University Support Networks

Oxford University Newcomers' Club

The Club welcomes the wives, husbands or partners of visiting scholars, of graduate students and of newly-appointed academic members of the University. We offer help, advice, information and the opportunity to meet others socially. Informal coffee mornings are held at the University Club every Wednesday, 10:30-12 from 0th week to 9th week, both inclusive. Newcomers with children (0-4) meet every Friday in term, 10:15-11:45. We have a large programme of events including tours of colleges and other places of interest. Other term-time activities include an art group, informal conversation group, garden group, antiques group and an opportunity to explore Oxfordshire. Click here for further information.

LGBT Staff Network 1st Thursday

If you fancy a drink after work then join us for 1st Thursday at the University Club the first Thursday of every month from 6 pm. This is an opportunity to meet new people or catch up with friends in a relaxed friendly atmosphere. The club provides food if you’re feeling a little hungry, or you can just stop by for a drink. 1st Thursday is very informal, you don’t need to confirm whether you’ll be coming or not as we won’t be booking a table. We will have a rainbow flag on the table to help people find us.

Some members of the Oxford University LGBT Staff  Network and Steering Group will also attend 1st Thursday, and if anyone has questions or concerns to raise with us, please let us know. More information about the Steering Group can be found here: www.admin.ox.ac.uk/eop/sexualorientation/informationforstaff/
