Hiring Out University Space
If space is not needed for departmental activity, departments may hire out space for events such as conferences: for example, hiring out lecture theatres for conference use during the long vacation. This does not require formal approval.
Where lecture facilities are offered to other departments for university teaching or research use, departments should ensure that the charges are consistent with what they are charged for the space, and not used to generate a profit from other departments.
