Conservation
Estates Services is responsible for the repair and upkeep of some of the finest buildings in the city. These include the Radcliffe Camera, Sheldonian Theatre and the Bodleian Library.
We are committed to carrying out conservation repair to the highest standards and have received awards for our work from the Oxford Preservation Trust and RICS.
Recent projects include:
- The replacement of the copper roofs at the Bodleian Library
- The restoration of the painted ceiling at the Sheldonian Theatre
- Cleaning the facades of the Ashmolean Museum and Taylor Institution
- The redecoration and relighting of the Sheldonian Theatre
We are currently producing Conservation Management Plans for all our buildings. These can be accessed online and contain information on the history of each building as well as conservation principles.
In May 2008, The University of Oxford launched the biggest fundraising Campaign in European history, aiming to raise a minimum of £1.25 billion. Click on the logo for more details.
