10:10 Campaign

The University of Oxford signed up to the 10:10 Campaign in May 2010. The 10:10 Campaign is a voluntary pledge for organisations to reduce CO2 emmissions between 3%-10% over a one-year period.

Joining the 10:10 Campaign will help the University meet its challenging longer term energy targets. The University's 10:10 target is to:

  • Reduce CO2 emissions by 3%-10% between April 2010 and March 2011 (based on 2009 emission levels)

10:10 was developed by the team behind the film The Age of Stupid and they now run the campaign with partner organisations including The Guardian, ActionAid, the Energy Saving Trust, the Carbon Trust and the Public Interest Research Centre.

10:10 is open to individuals, businesses and educational institutions – about 1,500 schools, colleges and universities in the UK have already signed up. Oxford Colleges that have signed up to 10:10 include St Anne's College, St Peter's College and Queen's College.

The University aims to reduce CO2 through behavioural change and practical measures that feature in the University's Energy Toolkit. The toolkit has lots of energy saving top tips for staff and students – both quick wins and longer term energy action.

10:10 Reports

This web site will feature quarterly Energy Reports on the 10:10 Campaign progress in July and October 2010, and January and April 2011.

You can receive 10:10 Campaign email updates, by emailing Kate Aydin (if you already receive the University's environmental e-bulletin EcoFinance you will automatically receive 10:10 updates).

The Estates Sustainability Team provides energy information to departments and help with identifying energy saving opportunities.

10:10 Posters

To raise awareness of the need to meet our target, we've developed 3 posters especially for departments and colleges that joined the 10:10 Campaign. The green poster is 'tweakable' so you can put your department/college name in it. Please raise awareness by printing the posters and putting them up in your building (they can be printed A4 or A3).
