Energy Toolkit

The University of Oxford is determined to play its part in cutting CO2 emissions and meet its carbon reduction targets. In 2011 the Sustainability Team developed an Energy Toolkit (2,900kb) to help staff and students meet the University's carbon reduction targets.

The toolkit is aimed at reducing energy in departmental buildings. It's easy to use and very practical. Simply click on the area you're interested in (lighting, heating, labs, computing etc) to see a short list of quick wins and longer term solutions for reducing building-related energy. The Energy Toolkit supports the implementation of the Carbon Management Strategy.

There is also a one-page Energy Toolkit for colleges (93kb) to help staff and students reduce energy in college buildings.

The Sustainability Team runs monthly toolkit surgeries for staff. Areas covered in the one-hour surgeries include computing, cooling, heating, lighting and laboratories. To find out how to save energy in your building, register here to attend a surgery.

To help you reduce energy in departmental buildings we've developed lots of in-depth fact sheets and case studies.

If you have any questions or comments on the Energy Toolkit please contact the University Sustainability Team.
