Waste Minimisation

The University Waste Policy is to review opportunities and implement measures to minimise general and hazardous waste generated by the University that is sent to landfill, and increase the proportion of waste that is recycled.

About 25,000 people work and study at Oxford University. They generate a considerable amount of waste, made from valuable raw materials such as oil, water and minerals which are finite and rapidly dwindling. By managing waste sustainably through reducing waste at source, reusing and recycling we can reduce our greenhouse gas emissions and water consumption, preserve ecological habitats globally and reduce our waste disposal costs.
