Waste
The University Waste Policy is to review opportunities and implement measures to minimise general and hazardous waste generated by the University that is sent to landfill, and increase the proportion of waste that is recycled.
About 25,000 people work and study at Oxford University. They generate a considerable amount of waste which is made from finite natural resources such as oil, water and minerals. The University aims to reduce waste at source in order to rely less on the world's rapidly-dwindling natural resources. It also aims to reuse and recycle as much waste as possible. This will result in reducing waste to landfill, which in turn will reduce greenhouse gas emissions and waste disposal costs.
