Reuse
Reusing unwanted items reduces the amount of finite raw materials we consume and reduces disposal costs.
Reusing items in the office
- Collect paper that has been used on one side and reuse as note paper
- Reuse envelopes by sticking a label over the old address and postmark
- Use internal mail 'ladder' envelopes for internal post
- Use outdated letterhead for in-house memos
- Reuse file folders
- Purchase two-hole ring binders so they can be reused more easily. Most hole punches only have two holes.
- Purchase good quality stationery and IT equipment that is durable and will last a long time
- Purchase refillable pens and pencils (rollerball pen cartridges and pencil leads cost less than buying a pack of pens/pencils)
- Donate good quality unwanted materials to your local art scrapstore, such as Orinoco
- Donate unwanted office furniture and equipment to other departments or to external organisations
- Buy a thin cotton bag that you can keep in your bag or pocket to use for shopping at lunchtime or after work
