As part of the University of Oxford’s drive to reduce carbon emissions, the Environmental Sustainability team within Estates Services have funded the replacement of all old inefficient glass dryers around the University's functional estate. These old units consume a great deal of energy - each uses even more electricity than an ultra-low temperature freezer, itself a large and notably power-hungry piece of scientific equipment.
