Estates Services Staff Awards announced

We recently announced the winners of our first annual Staff Awards, which recognise and celebrate excellence in the work of teams across our department. We invited all Estates Services staff to nominate teams, including their own, which they felt had excelled in either of two categories, Project/Initiative of the Year and Inter-team Working.

Here are the winners, who were presented with their awards by Director of Estates, Paul Goffin, at an event held recently at the Examination Schools.

The Project of the Year Award was won by the Estates Services’ Joiners team for their outstanding craftsmanship in refurbishing and repurposing the original Gilbert Scott desks, chairs and fittings for the Weston Library.

Security Services were Highly Commended for their outstanding commitment and professionalism during the implementation of the new Command and Control incident management system.

The Inter-team Working Award was won by members of the Building Services and DLO teams, who worked efficiently and professionally together to resolve the major flooding incident at the Robinson Close substation last October.

The Highly Commended award went to members of four teams across Estates Services for their work in refurbishing Summertown House East. Staff from Communications, Graduate Accommodation, University Parks and Capital Projects pulled together and worked long hours during the project, which included daily site visits, keeping students updated, welcoming the new tenants in, and spreading 100 tonnes of topsoil.

Paul Goffin, Director of Estates, says:  ‘It’s very encouraging that the awards process is highlighting the quality of our many projects and the way teams work so efficiently together.’
