The Architects Journal has announced that the Weston Library is one of six projects in the running for its 2016 Building of the Year Award.

The refurbishment of the grade II listed Weston Library has generated praise from users, visitors and the media alike. It underwent major work to turn it into an exciting and dynamic resource that encourages greater access and engagement for the University and general public.  Facilities include study rooms, reading rooms and a visiting scholars centre. Above and below ground, more than 40km of state-of-the-art storage facilities now house the special collections, including four of the 18 surviving copies of Magna Carta. The library also offers two exhibition spaces, a lecture theatre, café and shop.

The Building of the Year winner will be announced on 8 June.
