Weston Library scoops award

The Weston Library has picked up yet another accolade, this time from the Education Estates Awards.

The much-visited Library won in the refurbishment of the year category.Weston Library scoops award

The awards had seen a record number of entries this year and winners were announced at a ceremony in Manchester.

This is just the latest in a long series of plaudits for University buildings. Both the Blavatnik School of Government (BSG) and the Weston Library were shortlisted for the prestigious RIBA Stirling Prize for the best new building in the UK over the year. Estates Services itself was also nominated for the Client of the Year award. Sadly none of these led to victory, with Damien Hirst’s Newport Street Gallery winning the Stirling prize, but the shortlisting shows the high regard in which the architectural community holds these buildings.
