Holywell Millstream Bridge re-opens

The Holywell Millstream Bridge between the University Parks and Mesopotamia is once again open to the public after extensive refurbishment by Estates Services staff.

The DLO joiners started renovating the bridge in late 2017 and finished within the planned eight-week timetable. They replaced its footway and hand rails with custom-made new parts in decay-resistant Accoya wood; the structure should now need no more work for several decades.

Conservation & Buildings staff managed the project and the various contractors employed on it, while University Parks gardeners took care of clearing vegetation before work started and are handling making good damage to the riverbank caused by the scaffolding erected during the work.
