Using our contracts experience, we ensure catering arrangements deliver value for money. We can provide basic help and support through to a fully managed catering service.

Discussions are taking place with our preferred suppliers to take a more strategic approach to delivering catering services.

Many ‘café’ facilities are currently subsidised by departments and demand for catering services space is increasing. It is clear that opportunities exist for joint contracts across departments in order to improve efficiency and for potential production units to meet hospitality needs across a number of departments. A business case is currently being developed and will be available here once agreed.

Catering VAT

The provision of catering services will attract different rates of VAT depending on customer type i.e. student versus staff and type of food sold and service style. Departments are advised to discuss catering VAT with the University VAT manager prior to placing a contract.
