Repairs and maintenance

The division of responsibility for Repairs And Maintenance of University buildings between the occupying department and Estates Services is described in the Estates Regulations.

In general terms, Estates Services is responsible for the upkeep of the fabric of buildings and for the electrical and mechanical systems within buildings.

Estates Services also facilitates physical adjustments to buildings for disabled staff and students.

Conservation and repair work being carried out to the Sheldonian Theatre's painted ceiling panel Nr.27. The works were carried out over a period of approximately three years at International Fine Art Conservation Studios Ltd.

The Conservation and Buildings team is responsible for the planned, routine and reactive repair of building fabric.

The Building Services team is responsible for the planned, routine and reactive repair of mechanical  and electrical  services.

The DLO (Direct Labour Organisation) is located near the Science Area and provides front line support to departments in the event of emergencies as well as day to day repair and maintenance services.

The Helpdesk is the first point of call for reporting and logging repairs. Its response times are agreed in a Service Level Agreement.

Requests for repairs should be made to the Helpdesk  via Planon FacilityNet, or in the event of an emergency phone the Helpdesk on (2) 70877. Out of hours emergencies should be reported to University Security Services on (2) 72944.
