Direct Labour Organisation (DLO)
The Direct Labour Organisation (DLO) provides a day-to-day reactive maintenance service for the functional estate, as well as carrying out minor refurbishments and alterations. Other responsibilities include a 24-hour emergency callout service to attend to plant failure and other maintenance emergencies.
Areas of expertise covered by the DLO include:
- Plumbing
- Carpentry
- Heating and ventilation
- Brickwork, paving and plastering
- Glazing and emergency board-up
- Drain and gutter clearance
- Joinery
We also provide a service for non-maintenance work, which is chargeable to Departments. Details of your department cost code will be required when requesting these works and invoices will be raised on the completion of work. If required we can provide a quotation for these works.
Examples include:
- Moving furniture and equipment
- Minor carpentry alterations such as shelving, handrails and door locks
- Minor plumbing alterations such as pipe work installation, repositioning basins and lab sinks
- Minor electrical alterations such as additional socket outlets and lighting
- Joinery
How to contact us:
The DLO is based in South Parks Road in the Science Area. A Repairs and Maintenance Helpdesk acts as a central point of contact for departments to request repairs and progress jobs.
Emergency requests can be reported to the Helpdesk by phoning (2) 70877 during office hours, and by phoning Security Services on (2) 72944 out of working hours.
Non-urgent jobs should be reported via Planon FacilityNet.
