Electrical services
The Electrical Services section is a branch of the Building Services Group and is responsible for operation and maintenance of all of the University's fixed electrical installations, as defined in the Estates Regulations and the Safety Office Policy Statement S1/100, Working Safely with Electricity.Responsibilities of the Electrical Services section include:
- High and low voltage distribution networks
- Fixed electrical installations in buildings
- Electrical test and inspection programme
- Lightning protection
- Exterior lighting
- Monitoring electrical demand
No work may be carried out on the University's existing electrical systems without the prior knowledge and approval of the Electrical Engineer.
All work must be carried out in accordance with the OUED Code of Practice Word document Electrical Safety of Low Voltage Systems

Only electrical contractors on the OUED approved list of inducted electrical contractors will be allowed to work on the University's fixed electrical systems.
All work shall be in accordance with the current edition of the M&E 8 Design Philosophy
