Requesting Additional Space

Estates Services regularly meets with the various divisional offices to determine departmental space needs and priorities. A department's need for more space should first be discussed with their divisional office. It should fit into their academic objectives as expressed in the divisional plan.

To progress the allocation process a formal space allocation request must be logged. Logging a space allocation request will generate the required forms and allow the formal space allocation process to be progressed by Estates Services. Forms must be signed by both department and division. Departments will be asked to clarify the source of capital and revenue funding in their space requests.

Estates Services will try to suggest solutions or instigate the search for premises to rent if no University space is available. Departments will be notified if and when suitable space becomes available and asked to confirm that this is acceptable to them.

Once a formal request has been received, space identified and signed off as acceptable, Estates Services will prepare a paper for approval by the relevant University committees. The IMT will keep departments notified of progress.
