Estates Strategy Process
The University is required by its funding bodies to produce an Estates Strategy at least every five years. The last major review and formal issue of the Estates Strategy was in 2007 and was adopted formally through the appropriate University committees and issued to HEFCE. Reviews of the Strategy were undertaken in 2008 and 2009. These checked some of the detailed planning elements against the divisional plan review process and the stated divisional priorities and were presented to BESC and PRAC.
The key estate planning elements of the Estates Strategy are tested with divisions on a termly basis, at meetings between divisional heads and secretaries and members of Estates Services and the Planning and Resource Allocation Section (PRAS).
2010 will see a major review and re-write of the strategy aligned to:
- the University's Strategic Plan
- the 2010 Divisional Plan review process and the emerging academic priorities and opportunities
- Estates Services issues and priorities
- University initiatives towards global and local sustainability issues
- The local planning context
- Funding and economic factors
