Mobile Mechanic
The University has teamed up with Oxford Mobile Cycle Repairs Ltd (OMCR) and The Oxford Bicycle Company Ltd (OBC) to provide a mobile bike repairs Mobile Mechanic scheme. Cycles requiring minor repairs (e.g. punctures, brakes, cables, gears and lights) may be taken at the day and time indicated to the following locations:
| Wednesdays, 09.00 - 16.00 at the University Club, Mansfield Road (OMCR mechanic) |
| Fridays, 09.00 - 12.00 at Oxford University Old Road Campus (between the restaurant and the back of the Rosemary Rue Building; OMCR mechanic) |
| 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month, 8.30 am onwards at St Cross/Manor Rd Buildings car park, St Cross Road (OBC mechanic) |
| 2nd Tuesday of the month , 8.30 am onwards at the Maths Institute at 24 - 29 St Giles (access via Blackhall Road; OBC mechanic) |
| 4th Tuesday of the month, 8.30 am onwards at Dartington House, Maths Institute, Little Clarendon Street (OBC mechanic) |
The Mobile Mechanic is only able to repair a limited number of bicycles, booked in on a first come first served basis, and is regularly fully booked within the first hour. N.B. The Old Road Campus service operates via a booking sheet available at the Rosemary Rue reception from 16.00 on Thursday.
The Mobile Mechanic may also be available to visit your workplace subject to a minimum number of 10 cycle repairs. Please ask your departmental administrator to email either OMCR or OBC for further details.
Discount for University Staff
In recognition of the benefits cycling in and around Oxford brings to the city and surrounding areas, the University Environment Panel will pay all Mobile Mechanic labour charges on repairs to bikes used by University staff until further notice. The bikes must be used for University business, or for travelling to/from work, and a valid University staff photo ID card must be presented. Your staff ID card barcode number will be recorded.
