Those provisions of this regulation which govern admission to, and transfer from, one status to another shall apply only to research students first registered from Michaelmas Term 1991 or later. Students first registered for a research degree before that term shall continue to be subject to the relevant sections of the 1990 Examination Decrees in this respect. References within this regulation to part-time students relate to a small number of faculties/departments which have been given permission to admit research students to study on a part-time basis. There is no general provision for the award of research degrees through part-time study within the University.
