Leaving OSPS
Opting Out
This section is intended to tell you what will happen to employees who wish to opt out of OSPS. This will depend on when the member opts out.
Within the first three months
If a member wishes to opt out within three months of becoming an employee, they should complete the OSPS University Opt Out Form (OPT1U)
(83kb) and return it to the Pensions Office.
After the first three months
If a member wishes to opt out after they have been in
the
scheme for three months, they have to give 28 days notice of opting out
by
signing Application to withdraw from OSPS (while in pensionable service) (OPT2) form
(57kb)
and sending it to the Pensions Office immediately. The date
of leaving OSPS is the end of the pay period in
which
the 28 days notice expires. The member should be aware that they cannot opt out with effect from the date they sign the above form.
Once the payroll has been run for the pay period in which the 28 days notice expires we will do the necessary calculations and contact the former member directly concerning their options.
