Banking Sacks
The process of collections and banking requires the use of special collection bags and specific stationery. Supplies of these are available from the Cashiers' Office (please try to advise us of requirements well before you run out).
Coin sacks
These are usually clear with carry handles and are used when you have more than the equivalent weight of about 4 small bags of coin (the Post Office sacks are not suitable for large amounts of coin). The coin sack should be marked with your Department's name, and the total amount of the deposit form. This ensures that the Cashiers can match up all bags that belong together.
Post Office sacks
These are red and are the holdall for your cash and/or cheques. Do not put your bulk coin into these sacks, i.e. more than the equivalent of 4 coin bags. Ensure that items to be banked are securely bundled together (e.g. in an envelope) and not put loose in the sack.
If there is more than one deposit inside the Post Office sack, use a Banking Enclosure Slip
(49kb) to help the Cashiers to check the sack's contents.
Keep a copy of the slip.
Please record your Department details in the space provided on the sack with your name and the destination (i.e. Cashiers Office, 23-38 Hythe Bridge Street). The Post Office requires that the sack be marked with the amount of cash inside. This ensures they do not exceed their insurance limits when all bags are bulked together.
