Publication Scheme

Guide to the information available

The University's publication scheme follows the standard format required by the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) from January 2009. It sets out what information the University publishes or intends to publish, how the information can be accessed and whether or not a charge will be made for it. We have tried to make as much information as possible available on the University’s website. Many of the documents are in Word or PDF format and can be downloaded free of charge from our website. To read PDF documents you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader, which is free and available from Adobe. The University Gazette is the authorised journal of record of the University of Oxford. A helpful summary of the items published in the Gazette can be found here.

Any queries on the information included within the scheme and requests for information which is not available on the University’s website should be addressed to the Information Officer at the following address:

The University reserves the right to make a small charge for printed copies of some documents available on the website, to cover administrative costs. Charges for documents only available in hard copy are indicated on the website.

Information which falls into the following categories is not published as part of the scheme:

  • the University does not hold the information;
  • the information is exempt under one of the FOI exemptions or Environmental Information Regulations (EIRs) exceptions, or its release is prohibited under another statute;
  • the information is archived, out of date or otherwise inaccessible; or,
  • it would be impractical or resource-intensive to prepare the material for routine release.
