Keyboard Shortcuts

Microsoft Office Keyboard Shortcuts

Most of the extra keyboard shortcuts set up when Office 2000 was used on the UAS network still function in Office 2007. A full list of Microsoft keyboard shortcuts can be found in the Help function in 2007. When using an Office 2007 application, go to the help button (press F1) and type in keyboard shortcuts.

In 2007, any of the buttons on the tabs can be accessed from the keyboard by the use of access keys (see explanation below).

The Oxford Customisations Keyboard Shortcuts in Word

The keyboard shortcuts for the 2007 Oxford Toolbar buttons are displayed on the tooltip when hovering over the button. There are a few customised keyboard shortcuts from the legacy 2000 customisations which continue to function in 2007 even though the button has not been transferred.

Office 2007 Access Keys/KeyTips

Access keys provide a way to quickly use a command by pressing a few keys, no matter where you are in the program. Every command in an Office 2007 application can be accessed by using an access key. You can get to most commands by using two to five keystrokes. To use an access key:

  • Press ALT
  • The KeyTips are displayed over each feature that is available in the current view

  • Press the letter shown in the KeyTip over the feature that you want to use
  •  Depending on which letter you press, you may be shown additional KeyTips. For example, if the Home tab is active and you press I, the Insert tab is displayed, along with the KeyTips for the groups on that tab
  • Continue pressing letters until you press the letter of the command or control that you want to use. In some cases, you must first press the letter of the group that contains the command

Note: To cancel the action that you are taking and hide the KeyTips, press ALT.
