Departmental administrator induction and probation procedures overview

Scope

The principles in this guide should be followed for:

  • Departmental Administrators (the lead administrator, regardless of the title of the post, e.g. Faculty Board Secretary, Business Manager, Head of Administration and Finance.)
  • Academic-related Deputy Administrators (where the guide refers to the Head of Department, substitute a reference to the department’s Administrator, and omit the report to the Registrar).

Purpose

The aim of the procedure is to ensure that the new Administrator receives the personal support, guidance and training to allow him or her quickly to become conversant with all the facets of the role, to meet necessary standards, and ultimately to complete the probationary period successfully.

This guidance should be read in conjunction with the guidance on induction and probation for all staff.
