Calculating holiday entitlement
Departments may not vary the University's approved leave entitlement other than in discussion with Personnel Services.
A holiday calculator (see documents) is available on-line to assist in the calculation of leave. This calculator may be used to calculate leave for part-timers, starters, leavers, term-time only workers, casual workers and someone changing their hours during the holiday year. The calculator should be used in conjunction with the other guidance in this section for the relevant staff group and only in situations where the standard terms and conditions for the grade are applicable.

Academic-related staff
The standard entitlement is to 38 days inclusive of public holidays and any fixed days of closure (pro rata if part-time).
Provisions for certain academic-related staff on Whitley Council scales are given below.
Academic-related staff on Clinical (Whitley Council) Scales

All entitlements are inclusive of public holidays and any fixed days of closure
(*) 40 days, if on third point of scale or higher, 35 days below third point.
University support staff
38 days inclusive of public holidays and fixed days of closure (pro rata if part-time).

The holiday calculator (downloadable from Documents) operates in Microsoft Excel, and you may need to open Excel before clicking on the link for it to work properly. If you have any difficulties operating the holiday calculator please contact Personnel Services on (2)89900.
Please note that the calculator is not currently working for clinical posts (i.e. posts with a 40 day leave entitlement). Please speak to your HR Business Partner if you require assistance with holiday calculation for these staff.
