Tier 1 Highly Skilled Workers
This route closed to new overseas applicants on 23 December 2010 and to new in-country applicants on 6 April 2011.
Those who already hold Tier 1 (Highly Skilled Worker) visas may continue to extend their leave to remain in the UK in this category. Applications must be made by migrants themselves, although the Work Permits Desk can provide guidance where possible.

A Tier 1 Highly Skilled Worker application made whilst in the UK will cost £1,545 for all migrants except those from Turkey, Croatia and FYR Macedonia who will pay a reduced fee of £1,391. Dependant applications made at the same time as the main applicant will cost £1,159 per dependant. Dependant applications not made along with the main applicant will cost the same as the relevant main applicant fee per dependant.
