PRAC ICT Sub-committeeThe ICT Strategic Plan recommended the creation of a new governance structure for information and communications technology and in Trinity Term 2007 Council approved the creation of a new ICT Sub-committee of the Planning and Resource Allocation Committee (PRAC), replacing the existing ICT Committee of Council, as recommended by the ICT Strategy (the collaborative development of which has been extensively documented and which was finalized in 2007, see www.ict.ox.ac.uk/strategy/). The necessary changes in regulations were published in the Gazette on 11 October 2007 and came into effect on 26 October 2007. The PRAC ICT Sub-committee is a single point of governance for ICT across the collegiate University, and the principal advisory body to PRAC and Council and other University bodies on all aspects of ICT. It determines a strategy and policy framework for the collegiate University, and reviews the scale, quality and cost effectiveness of ICT services. It is establishing an ICT framework to enable centrally and locally provided services to work together efficiently, reliably and cost effectively. The committee’s primary responsibilities are for the development and implementation of an ICT Strategy and policy framework for the Collegiate University, implementation of the rolling five-year ICT Strategic Plan and recommendations to the Planning and Resource Allocation Committee on ICT matters outside its delegation. Further details are available in its Terms of Reference from the University’s regulations. The new committee meets termly in sixth week and has two ex officio appointments; it is chaired by the Registrar, with the Director of IT as its chief executive officer. Further information on ICT governance is available from the Office of the Director of IT. Queries about the PRAC ICT Sub-committee or its business may be addressed to the University’s Director of IT Paul Jeffreys (Paul.Jeffreys@odit.ox.ac.uk) or Charles Shaw, Secretary of the PRAC ICT Sub-committee (Charles.Shaw@admin.ox.ac.uk, tel.
