Research Facilitators

One of the aims of the Fund is to provide a network of support to maximise the University's response to research opportunities. Research facilitators are intended to form part of this network. A research facilitator is an administrative postholder who supports the development of research through the establishment of collaborations and/or the preparation of bids for external funding. The committee normally funds research facilitators with a wide strategic/thematic role rather than posts within a single department. Facilitators may be divisionally based, or operate across divisions. It is expected that such facilitators will work in close collaboration with Research Services' divisional teams. It is recognised that the scope of these posts is likely to vary in different subject areas: some may need more help with writing proposals, while others may wish to focus on building wider collaborations with other units within Oxford, or with outside institutions. It is expected that research facilitators would normally be supported from the Fund for a fixed term: applicants should make clear the period for which they seek support and state whether they see their need for such posts as limited in term or, if not, how they would envisage such posts being funded in the longer term. Research facilitator posts created with support from the Fell Fund must be advertised.
