Purchasing

When you need to buy goods or services, whether it’s a travel ticket, a new whiteboard for a lecture theatre, or a contract for cleaning your Department’s offices, it is important to consider Value for Money.

The University Purchasing Department is there to provide you with professional advice and guidance when you need to make a purchase. They offer access to preferred supplier agreements, negotiation with suppliers, information on the tender process if you need it and provide access to the purchasing system, all things that can help you obtain better value for money. To quickly find advice on what you are looking for try their ‘How do I?’ guide (oxonly)

Purchasing is a key area of work for the Shared Services Sub-Group. There are currently two active working groups, the IT Purchasing Group and Science Purchasing Group.

These groups are working to ensure that the purchasing department understands the latest requirements of the academic community and can be proactive in negotiating the best deals for colleagues administering scientific grants, running stores and departments, or supporting staff with their IT needs.
