BHF - British Heart Foundation

Time Limits

  • 'The findings' from the research funded by the Grant should be made freely available to the broader scientific community as soon as possible. The publication or release of such findings may be reasonably delayed to enable protection of any intellectual property.
  • BHF requires a copy of the final research paper funded wholly or in part by BHF to be deposited in UKPMC, within 6 months of publication.

Data Management Plan

  • Not required as part of the application.

Access/Data Sharing

  • For publications:  BHF requires complete versions of publications to be made freely available. Many journals will deposit the article on behalf of the authors directly into UKPMC to be available on publication or after an embargo period (or into US PubMed Central, from where they are mirrored to UKPMC). In some cases, journals will not deposit the article but will allow the authors to deposit a copy.  Useful information on which publishers are compliant with the BHF policy can be found on the SHERPA/RoMEO website at http://www.sherpa.ac.uk/romeo/
  • For data:  BHF use Researchfish, an online survey database developed from MRC e-Val, to gather information about research outputs and outcomes. Submitting Researchfish data will be a Condition of Grant. At present you will still also need to submit a Final Report.
