IP Rights Management Team: responsibilities

The IP Rights Management Team are responsible for a total of eight lines of work, each concerning an aspect of the appropriate handling of the University's intellectual property.

  1. IP Rights (Isis) - Establishing where IP rights reside and negotiating IP acquisitions and clearances leading to the transfer of rights to Isis Innovation for commercialisation.
  2. IP Rights (non-Isis) - Establishing, on occasion, where IP rights reside and negotiating IP acquisitions and clearances leading to commercialisation by parties other than Isis.
  3. Royalty Distribution - Putting in place revenue sharing arrangements and assisting Finance with confirming non-standard revenue sharing arrangements.
  4. Residual Rights - Identifying any obligations to other parties concerning residual IP rights, offering such rights as necessary, prior to Isis offering rights back to the researchers.
  5. Confidentiality Agreements - Processing, recording and signing confidentiality agreements on behalf of the University to support Isis marketing.
  6. Pre-consultancy Reports - Providing information on an academic's contractual and sponsorship arrangements to Isis.
  7. Material Sales Clearances - Identifying obligations and seeking clearances for Isis to license or sell materials.
  8. IP queries - Dealing with a variety of queries on the University IP Statutes and Regulations or on IP generally from across the University.
