Training through external organisations
The two major organisations in the UK providing training and professional development opportunities for those involved in research support and research administration are ARMA and PraxisUnico. There are a significant number of members of both organisations from the University of Oxford, many of whom are speakers at their training events and conferences.
ARMA is the professional association for research managers and administrators in the UK. Its members work in a variety of organisations, including universities, funding bodies, the NHS and independent research organisations, as well as organisations providing services to research support offices. Its activities are focused on encouraging professional development and networking amongst research managers and administrators.
PraxisUnico is an educational not-for-profit organisation set up to support innovation and commercialisation of public sector and charity research for social and economic impact. PraxisUnico encourages innovation and acts as a voice for the research commercialisation profession, facilitating the interaction between the public sector research base, business and government. PraxisUnico provides a forum for best practice exchange, underpinned by a comprehensive training and development programmes.
