Q7: Surveying & Corrective Measures

Question: How does your department conduct inspections and ensure corrective and preventative measures are implemented?
Information: Where deficiencies or problems are identified in the department’s control measures, it is important that they are acted upon and addressed.  Therefore, the outcome of risk assessments, safety discussions, incident investigations, inspections, monitoring, reviews and audits should be suitably captured and communicated to someone for action.  The implementation of these actions should be monitored to ensure they are progressing and proving to be effective.  If the actions are not implemented and/or risks still exist, then this should be communicated to the relevant supervisor and as necessary, the Head of Department, for acceptance of that risk or identification of an alternative means of control.
